Wilmington Alto Saxophone - Wind Instrument Proshop

Wilmington Alto Saxophone

Description

Most saxophones at a reasonable price make quiet compromises — in build quality, repairability, or the kind of tone that holds up under scrutiny. The Wilmington Alto doesn't. It was designed from the ground up by the Sax ProShop with a simple goal: a well-made, great-playing, fully repairable alto that doesn't cost what professional instruments cost.

The bore taper, tone hole locations, and key design were all specified by the Sax ProShop based on years of factory visits and hands-on repair work. The result is a horn that plays with a warm, clean tone and a big low end — standing up mechanically against many instruments that cost significantly more.

The entire body is made from nickel silver — a harder, more dent-resistant material than standard brass, and one that contributes to the resonant, rich character of the sound. The body is sandblasted inside and out for a satin finish, then clear lacquered. The look is understated and clean.

Most keys are mounted on pivot screws instead of rods for a longer-lasting setup, and all screws and rods are stainless steel to avoid rusting. Every replacement part is available from MusicMedic — this is a horn you can maintain and repair for the long term without hunting for parts.

Every Wilmington we sell is inspected and play-tested at the Sax ProShop and again here in Calgary before it leaves us. It arrives ready to play.

Includes stock mouthpiece and ligature, swab, microfiber cloth, cork grease, Ultimax Key Oil, and a reinforced backpack case. We recommend pairing it with a neck and mouthpiece from our selection.
