Why Muramatsu Certification Matters
Muramatsu flutes made after 1995 require specific parts, techniques and tools that are only available to authorized technicians. An uncertified technician cannot purchase genuine Muramatsu pads, screws or replacement components — meaning your flute may be repaired with parts that are not designed for it. Previous work by an unauthorized technician can also result in damage that requires correction before certified service can begin.

Services
Flute COA — Clean, Oil & Adjust
Complete disassembly, cleaning and inspection of all mechanisms. Pads assessed for wear. Key action regulated and oiled. Head cork checked. All springs adjusted. The recommended annual service for any actively played flute — prevents the gradual deterioration that players often mistake for embouchure or headjoint problems.
Flute Overhaul
Complete disassembly, full repad, tone hole inspection, key fitting, regulation and setup. For flutes that have not been serviced in years or professional players preparing for auditions, recordings or performance seasons. Every overhaul is performed to Muramatsu's service specifications using genuine Muramatsu parts.
Straubinger Pad Installation
Straubinger certification is awarded solely at the discretion of David Straubinger himself. Our technician is one of the very few Straubinger-certified technicians in Canada — qualified to install and service the most precise and demanding pad system in professional flute repair. For flutists who want the ultimate in pad precision, seal and response.
Piccolo & All Flute Makes

Our Technician
Joshua Adam graduated with High Honours on the President's List from the Band Instrument Repair Program at Minnesota State College Southeast — widely regarded as one of the top repair programs in North America. He is Alberta's first Muramatsu-certified technician, trained directly by Muramatsu America. He also holds Straubinger certification and has presented on instrument repair and maintenance at the University of Calgary, the Alberta Teachers Convention and the 2026 YYC Secondary Music Education Summit.
