Royal Global

Royal Global was founded in Boston in 2007 by international clarinet soloist and designer Yuan Gao. Working alongside his mentor, renowned clarinetist Jonathan Cohler, Gao began by designing and hand-finishing clarinet barrels and bells — each built with meticulous care and a passion for sound. Royal Global
What started small has grown into something remarkable. Gao built his own factory, sources grenadilla wood directly from Africa, runs his own sawmill, and seasons the wood naturally for 7–10 years — controlling the entire process from raw material to finished instrument. Every clarinet is then inspected and hand-finished in the United States.

Here in Calgary, we like the MAX wood clarinets. They are a good synthetic alternative made with a mix of grenadilla dust as well as resin. Max clarinets play great like any other wooden instrument, but they doesn't warp or deform or crack. Calgary is a horrible climate for wood: we're dry, incredibly high in elevation, and we have rapid humidity changes because of the Chinooks from the mountains. So if you want something that you can rely on every season and every day, give one of the MAX wood clarinets a try!
