The Onyx is their bass clarinet offering — CNC milled from premium German rod rubber on their own custom A-frame blank, with the machine finish left intact on the exterior. That matte surface isn't a cost-cutting measure. It's a deliberate choice that sets it apart visually from the polished, hand-finished Custom and marbled hard rubber models in the Corbin lineup.

The 1.82mm tip opening and long facing give the Onyx a genuinely large, colourful sound. The bass clarinet can be a dark, receding instrument in the wrong setup — the Onyx pushes back against that. The tone projects across the hall with presence and body, and the long facing gives you the dynamic range and flexibility to shape that sound in whatever direction the music calls for. Recommended with a 3 to 3.5 strength reed, which pairs well with the resistance of the long facing to give you real control at both ends of the dynamic spectrum.
