Muramatsu is one of the most prestigious names in the flute world. Founded in Japan in 1923 by Koichi Muramatsu, it is the oldest professional flute maker in the country. Today, they are universally recognized as one of the "Big Three" Japanese flute makers (alongside Miyazawa and Sankyo) and are widely considered to make some of the best professional flutes on the planet.

If you buy a modern Muramatsu, you will encounter Lotus Pads. These are Muramatsu's proprietary, patented pads used inside the key cups to seal the tone holes. They are the best designed, and made pads in the world. Because Lotus pads use a specialized, rigid internal design, they require factory-trained technicians with specific equipment to adjust or shim them. You can't just take a Lotus-padded flute to a generic neighborhood repair shop for a quick pad fix! Luckily our flute tech trained with Muramatsu and has their Muramatsu flute certification.
