Muramatsu EXiii

Muramatsu has been building some of the finest flutes in the world since 1923, and the EX is where that craftsmanship becomes accessible. It's their most economical model — but that description only tells you where it sits in the lineup, not what it actually is. The EX is a fully handcrafted instrument built to the same quality standard as everything above it.

The headjoint is hand-cut solid silver — the most important single element of a flute's tone. Each one is carefully cut and matched to its body, which means the response and tonal character are optimised for that specific instrument rather than assembled from interchangeable parts. The silver-clad body and key mechanism are the same reliable mechanism Muramatsu uses on their most expensive professional flutes. There's no separate entry-level mechanism here.

The silver headjoint offers a light blowing feel and a rich, three-dimensional sound. The tone is naturally dark and warm with a flexible dynamic range — the kind of sound that encourages expressive playing rather than working against it.
