The Meyer Hard Rubber alto saxophone mouthpiece has been a top choice for jazz players since the late 1930s, when brothers Frank and Edward Meyer first introduced the design. It's one of the most recorded alto sounds in jazz history, with players from the bebop era through today building their tone around this same basic shape.

Available here in two tip openings: 5 (approximately .071") and 6 (approximately .076"). Both come with a medium facing and medium chamber, Meyer's most common and versatile combination. The 5 sits on the more closed end of the range, giving extra control and a slightly easier blow. The 6 opens up a bit more, adding air capacity and volume potential while staying manageable for most players. Both give a balanced response that isn't too bright or too dark, with reliable intonation and a comfortable reed strength range.

The hard rubber body produces a warm, full sound with a smooth, colorful tone and strong projection. This mouthpiece works for students moving up from a stock piece as well as professionals who want a proven, time-tested setup.
