Wedge 67MDV Hybrid Trumpet Mouthpiece

The Bach 1½C, Schilke 15–17 series, and Yamaha 16C4 have defined the orchestral trumpet sound for decades — large diameter, medium-deep cup, dark and full with the projection to carry in a concert hall. The Wedge 67MDV was built to fill that same role, with all of the advantages the Wedge design brings to the equation.

The larger inner diameter sits in the same territory as the Bach 1½C and 1¼C — a size that produces the dark, broad, orchestral tone that section playing and solo work in a concert hall demands. The medium-deep V cup reinforces that character, keeping the sound warm and centred without sacrificing the projection and presence that orchestral playing requires.

The Hybrid version uses a 3D-printed polymer rim and cup liner made from medical-grade resin, bonded permanently to a brass base. The oval rim shape is designed around the natural geometry of the embouchure — comfortable over long rehearsals and performances, with reduced pressure on the corners of the lips where fatigue accumulates on conventional mouthpieces.

Two throat options are available. The standard 27 throat suits most players and gives a focused, well-controlled response. The larger 25 throat opens the sound up for stronger players with good breath support who want a bigger, broader tone and reduced resistance.
