Wedge 66MDV Hybrid Trumpet Mouthpiece

The Bach 1½C is the classic orchestral trumpet mouthpiece, but its larger diameter isn't the right fit for every player. The 66MDV offers the same dark, orchestral character in a slightly more efficient .66 inch inner diameter — a size that gives most players better endurance and range than the larger .67 inch, while keeping a similar, warm, full-bodied sound. The tone is dark and centred, if slightly more compact, and it carries well in concert hall and ensemble settings.

It's an excellent choice for advancing students who aren't yet ready for the demands of the 67MDV, and equally well suited to the advanced amateur or professional who wants the orchestral sound but needs better endurance and range efficiency than the larger diameter provides. If the 67MDV has ever felt like too much mouthpiece, the 66MDV is the natural step.

The Hybrid version uses a 3D-printed polymer rim and cup liner made from medical-grade resin, bonded permanently to a brass base. The oval rim shape is designed around the natural geometry of the embouchure — comfortable and warm on the lips, with reduced pressure on the corners where fatigue accumulates on conventional mouthpieces. You play it like any other mouthpiece, but with less resistance between the equipment and your embouchure.
