Wedge 65S Hybrid Trumpet Mouthpiece

Lead playing puts specific demands on a mouthpiece — efficiency in the upper register, quick response, and a bright, projecting tone that carries over a loud band. The 65S was built for exactly that. A medium diameter and shallow cup give you the upper register support that lead work requires, while the slightly deeper profile compared to a Schilke A cup or GR S cup preserves a more usable low register than most lead mouthpieces offer. You don't have to sacrifice the bottom end to get the top.

The S cup sits close to a GR MS cup in depth and character — bright and focused, with a response that locks in quickly and a tone that projects with authority. Most players find the upper register performs better than comparable conventional mouthpieces despite the slightly deeper cup — a benefit of the Wedge's oval rim geometry and embouchure-friendly design.

The 65S also doubles well on piccolo trumpet for players who want a brighter sound with more projection on that instrument.

The Hybrid version uses a 3D-printed polymer rim and cup liner made from medical-grade resin, bonded permanently to a brass base. Warm and comfortable on the lips, with the oval rim shape reducing pressure on the corners of the embouchure where fatigue builds on conventional mouthpieces.
