The saxophone neck is the single most impactful upgrade you can make to an existing instrument. Everything the player produces passes through it before reaching the body of the horn, and the material and geometry shape the tone in ways that are immediately audible. The KB Sax Vanguard is built around that understanding — a handcrafted neck that transforms what your alto saxophone is capable of.

The hand hammering process is the defining element. Inspired by the legendary cymbal makers of the past, who painstakingly hammered each cymbal to develop its exact resonance and character, KB Sax applies a precise and deliberate hammering process to each copper tube after it's formed. This hardens the metal substantially — making it resistant to pulldowns — and brings out the specific sound and response characteristics that define the Vanguard. The visual result is striking. The acoustic result is what matters.

The Vanguard has a core focus situated in the high mid-tone area, resulting in a slender, highly centred tone with a very resonant sound quality and powerful projection. The copper adds warmth and complexity compared to the C-69 brass version — slightly richer in the lower mid-tones, with a colorful, deeply resonant character that carries through the full range of the horn. Every tenon is custom fabricated to fit your specific instrument. We'll contact you to arrange measurements, and our repair team will fit the neck to your saxophone at no charge. If you upgrade your horn in the future, we'll refit it to your new instrument as well.
