Description
The Francois Louis Basic ligature is a wonderful iteration on a stamped sheet metal ligature. It has 4 rails engineering into the stamping die. Two raised rails contact the top of the reed, and the other 2 rails rest against the side of the mouthpiece. This minimal footprint leaves the reed free to vibrate across as much of its surface as possible, while keeping the reed secure and aligned with the mouthpiece.
The rails are smoothly rounded so they won't mark your mouthpiece. The metal is springy rather than rigid, providing secure hold without over-tightening. Because the same design fits a wide range of mouthpiece sizes, it's an easy recommendation for almost any mouthpiece.
