Description
Every year more Musical instrument repair techs retire. with the next decade I expect over half of all of the instrument repair techs in Calgary to retire. As they retire wait times for repair will become longer, and more expensive. Not only that but there has also been a shortage of quality accessible repair in Calgary. I am scared that there will be a point in time when Wind instrument players will be left without an infrastructure to support their instrument, the tools of their trade.
I have become the certified Techinican in Alberta, having graduated from Minnesota state college for band instrument repair, and completing programs from Straubinger, Muramatsu, Music Medic, The Boston Sax shop, and independently traveling to visit and study with some of Americas best Instrument repair specialists. I want to share that knowledge.
Over the last 13 months this business has been started to offer an alternative perspective on instrument repair, one that focuses on serving musicians and doing repairs unlike anyone else in Alberta. I've brought in woodwind and brass accessories that were previously unavailable to try in the City. This has been incredibly expensive, but I still want to do more. I have run out of space to operate out of home, and I don't have space to train future repair technicians to fill the inevitable void approaching.
I am inspired by some of the amazing businesses serving musician sin the USA like Fluteworld, JLandres Brass, The Boston Sax shop, and I want to try create that experience here in Calgary for musicians to experience. This is expensive, but I am determined to create this resource and experience for musicians. Are you willing to help? If you are please consider Donating to help this business grow and support other musicians throughout Calgary
If Long & Mcquade is the Music store for everyone, and St.Johns Music is tailored toward Schools the goal of this Business to is to support Wind Instrument Musicians that have a desire to take their instrumentalism seriously. Any Dollar amount helps, and is incredibly appreciated.
