Oiling keys is important to ensure a mechanism that performs its best for a long period of time. Start by cleaning around the keys with a Q-Tip(If you apply oil to a dirty surface, that dirt with go inside the key). Apply oil sparingly to the bearing surface between keys(where the keys spin against each other).
