Description

The Hand Hammered Copper is a complex sounding neck with the dominant core sound being slightly on the darker side. It retains its round and centered tone at all volume levels and while it is a focused neck it has a rich and layered sound quality. The smooth brightness with warm undertones combined with the multi dimensional and layered sound quality makes the Hand Hammered Copper a compelling neck to play.

For the Redwood Hand Hammered Copper KB Sax uses a process of hand hammering the copper neck tube after it is formed. It serves several purposes: It hardens the metal, making it as strong and pull-down resistant as a brass neck and it also gives the neck its specific sound and response characteristics.

The signature design of hand hammering the copper (and bronze tubes) are not merely for the stunning visuals. Inspired by the legendary cymbal makers of the past, where master craftsmen painstakingly hand hammered each cymbal to bring out the exact resonance they were seeking, so it is with the hand hammered KB Sax necks.

KB Sax has developed a very precise and deliberate hand hammering process that both hardens the necks so they are not prone to pulldowns, but also brings out the desired sound, resonance and response characteristics of the neck.
