Otto Link x Theo Wanne LA Metal

The Otto Link LA is where the legendary Link name meets a completely new design. While the New York, Super Tone Master, Tone Edge, and Florida models are all rooted in the vintage Link hard rubber tradition, the LA is something different — a metal mouthpiece built from the ground up with a smaller chamber and the highest baffle in the lineup. It was the model that started the Otto Link and Theo Wanne partnership, and it remains the most ambitious piece in the new lineup.

The LA delivers the brightest, most punchy sound of all four Otto Link / Wanne models. The high baffle gives the tone immediate presence and attack, and the smaller chamber focuses the sound into a tighter, more projecting beam. The core Otto Link character is still there — that fundamental warmth and depth that defines the Link sound — but the LA version of it is built to cut through. Loud bands, modern settings, commercial and contemporary playing where projection and attack are the priority — the LA handles all of it with authority.

This mouthpiece is CNC machined at Theo Wanne on the same machines they use to machine their signature mouthpieces, then sent to JJ Babbit for polishing, finishing and plating. We got to see them being machined in person and were amazed by the innovation and craftsmanship.
