Description
If there is a standard for jazz alto tone, the Meyer hard rubber mouthpiece set it. More jazz alto recordings have been made on a Meyer than on any other mouthpiece, and the medium chamber 6 sits at the centre of the lineup — open enough to sing, controlled enough to play with precision. The sound is warm and focused with a natural brightness that carries in a room without pushing into harshness. It works in straight-ahead jazz, bebop, fusion, and anywhere else you need a voice that feels immediate and alive.
We have two alto mouthpieces that when we recieved them were told that they had been professionally refaced by Sebastian Knox. They play so well that we believe them!! The facings are even, with beautiful rails, and the mouthpieces play the way a good Meyer should — responsive off the tongue, even across registers, and easy to shape dynamically. Normal cosmetic wear from use may be visible, but nothing that affects playability.
The medium facing length and medium chamber are the classic Meyer combination — the setup that made the model famous. If you've been looking for a Meyer that plays right without hunting through a box hoping to get lucky, this is it.
No ligature included.
