Description
Two mouthpieces have defined the sound of jazz tenor more than any others — the Otto Link and the Berg Larsen. The Link for its fat, warm, singing tone. The Berg for its focused core and projection. Players have spent decades wishing they could have both at once. The Mantra was built to deliver exactly that.
Theo Wanne describes it as a Link on steroids, and that's an accurate starting point. The fatness and warmth are there — the low end is rich, the midrange sings, and the overall character has that classic vintage quality that makes a tenor sound like a tenor. But the Berg-like core keeps the sound focused and present in a way a standard Link doesn't always manage. It projects without losing warmth, and it cuts without going thin.
The rollover baffle, square window, and shark gill chamber are the geometric combination that makes it work. Each element is a deliberate choice from Theo Wanne's advanced CAD design process — not approximations of vintage geometry, but precise, intentional engineering that produces a consistent result every time.
It's also just a genuinely fun mouthpiece to play. Responsive, alive, and full of character across the full range of the horn.
Three tip openings cover the most common playing preferences. The 6* suits players who want more control and resistance. The 7* is the versatile middle ground. The 8 opens things up for players who want maximum room to push.
Includes Liberty ligature and cap.
