Description
The soprano can be a difficult instrument to balance in a jazz setting — too bright and it cuts when it should blend, too dark and it disappears in a larger ensemble. The Jazz Soprano was designed to sit in the right place between those two extremes. A rollover baffle and A-frame small chamber give you presence and edge without pushing the tone thin or aggressive. The sound is rich and full, with enough projection to carry in a big band and enough warmth to work in a small group or solo setting.
It responds well across the full range of the horn — even in the upper register where soprano mouthpieces often go shrill or unstable. The A-frame chamber keeps the tone centred and focused, while the rollover baffle adds the definition and forward character that jazz playing demands.
If you've been looking for a soprano mouthpiece that covers real ground — from intimate trio playing to a full jazz ensemble — without needing to compromise in either direction, the Jazz Soprano lands where it should.
Part of the Essentials line, which brings Theo Wanne's design expertise to a more accessible price point without sacrificing the geometric precision that makes his mouthpieces play the way they do.
