Description
The Drake baritone lineup is built around a shared foundation — the same medium reverse-taper Venturi chamber runs through every model — with each mouthpiece tuned to a different tonal character through variations in baffle angle and floor slope. The Crossover II sits toward the focused, controlled end of that spectrum.
The step baffle gives the tone definition and presence, but the lower baffle angle compared to the Crossover I pulls the sound back from bright and aggressive into something more refined. The result is a mouthpiece with a centred, focused core that works naturally in straight-ahead jazz, ballads, and Broadway settings — anywhere you need a baritone sound that's present and musical without pushing into the front of the mix. It also transitions comfortably into R&B when the gig calls for it.
The Venturi chamber keeps the airflow open and even throughout the range of the horn, which translates to that characteristic Drake ease of expression — responsive from top to bottom, with no register that fights you. Power is there when you need it, but the Crossover II is fundamentally about control and versatility rather than maximum projection.
Three tip openings let you match the mouthpiece to your playing style. The 7* gives more resistance and focus, the 8 sits in the versatile middle, and the 9 opens up for players who want more room and a bigger sound.
Includes a Drake ligature and cap.
