Description
The Wilmington line was built by MusicMedic — one of the most respected saxophone repair operations in the world — specifically because they couldn't find an affordable tenor they felt good recommending. The standard was simple: it had to have a big tone that's easy to control and move across styles without compromise. The Wilmington tenor delivers exactly that.
The low end is fat and full, intonation is even throughout the range, and the horn slots reliably whether you're playing classical, jazz, funk, or anything in between. It responds equally well on classical mouthpieces and wide-tipped metal pieces — versatility that most horns in this price range don't offer. The gold lacquered body with nickel-plated bell gives it a distinctive look and contributes to the resonance of the instrument.
Key contacts under Side Bb, C, and E, and most keys are mounted on pivot screws instead of rods for a longer-lasting setup. All screws and rods are stainless steel. MusicMedic blue steel springs throughout. Every replacement part is available from MusicMedic, which means this horn is genuinely serviceable for the long term.
Two necks included — lacquered and nickel plated — so you can experiment with how neck material affects the tone.
Every Wilmington we sell is inspected and play-tested at the Sax ProShop and again here in Calgary before it leaves us. It arrives ready to play.
Includes stock mouthpiece and ligature, swab, microfiber cloth, cork grease, and a reinforced backpack case. We recommend pairing it with a neck and mouthpiece from our selection to get the most out of the instrument.
