Description
If the 67MDV is the orchestral choice and the 665MDV fills the gap between the 1.5C and 5C, the 665MV steps slightly shallower still — sitting closest to the Bach 3C in the Wedge lineup. The cup depth is a touch shallower than the 1.5C, 5C, and Wedge 665MDV, which translates to a slightly brighter sound and more support in the upper register. It's a versatile, all-round mouthpiece that works across a wide range of playing situations.
Concert band, brass quintet, marching, and jazz band are where the 665MV lives comfortably. The efficiency and projection it offers make it a natural fit anywhere you need the trumpet to carry and respond quickly. It can work in an orchestral setting depending on the player's natural sound — players who already lean darker will find it balances out well; players with a naturally bright sound may prefer the deeper 665MDV.
The Hybrid version uses a 3D-printed polymer rim and cup liner made from medical-grade resin, bonded permanently to a brass base. The oval rim shape is designed around the natural geometry of the embouchure — warm and comfortable on the lips, with reduced pressure on the corners where fatigue builds on conventional mouthpieces. You play it like any other mouthpiece, but with less friction between the equipment and your embouchure.
Comparable in feel and character to the Bach 3C, GR 66MX, Monette B3 and B4S, Schilke 14B, and Yamaha 14B.
