Dark and free-blowing in the same mouthpiece is a combination that rarely comes together. Most dark-sounding clarinet mouthpieces add resistance as part of the bargain — the tone gets darker but the playing feels heavier. The Umbra breaks that pattern. The sound is rich and dark with a full spectrum of tonal colour, and the resistance stays low enough that nothing gets in the way of what you're trying to do musically.

Made from Chedeville's proprietary hard rubber, reformulated after years of research to recreate the resonance and character of the original pre-war Chedeville blanks. Manufactured at the Chedeville factory in Savannah, Georgia with CNC precision and expert hand finishing.

Four tip openings cover a wide range of playing preferences. Size 1 (1.05mm) is the most resistant and focused. Sizes 2 and 3 step progressively more open. Size 4 (1.20mm) gives maximum flexibility and dynamic range. All four share the same core dark, rich Umbra character.
