Description
Chedeville has been building classical clarinet mouthpieces since the early 1920s in Paris, and the name has meant something to serious players ever since. Under Jody Espina's leadership, that heritage is fully alive again — precision CNC machining combined with expert hand finishing and individual play testing at their Savannah, Georgia facility. Consistency is the obsession, and it shows in every piece.
The SAV Bass brings that standard to the bass clarinet at a price that serious students can actually afford. Made from German hard rod rubber rather than Chedeville's proprietary rubber, the savings are passed directly to the player — without compromising on sound, feel, or build quality in any meaningful way.
The medium-length classic Chedeville facing curve is the foundation. It produces a warm, robust tone that's full and centred across the full range of the bass clarinet, with a free-blowing response that keeps articulation clean and dynamics fully accessible. Pianissimo to fortissimo, the mouthpiece gets out of the way and lets you play. The tone is strong without being forced, warm without being dull — exactly what the bass clarinet needs to function well in an ensemble or solo context.
A serious bass clarinet mouthpiece at an accessible price. One of our go-to recommendations for advancing students and working players alike.
