Description

D'Addario built the Reserve line with one goal: take what made vintage hard rubber mouthpieces great and make it available at a consistent, repeatable level. The Reserve tenor is milled — not molded — from solid rod rubber using computer-controlled machining. That matters because molded mouthpieces can vary from piece to piece. With the Reserve, what you see is what you get every time, and the tolerances are tight enough that you don't need to sort through a box hoping to find a good one.

The tone sits in a warm, balanced place — not bright, not overly dark, with a strong centre and plenty of room to push or pull dynamically. It responds cleanly across the full range of the horn, from the low end up through the altissimo, without the uneven patches you sometimes feel on cheaper pieces. Articulation is crisp and reliable, which makes fast passages easier to control.
The medium tip opening and medium-long facing give you enough resistance to shape your tone without fighting the horn, and enough openness to move air freely. It works well in concert band, wind ensemble, and chamber settings, and holds its own in solo playing too. If you've been chasing the sound of an older classical mouthpiece but don't want to pay vintage prices or deal with the inconsistency that often comes with them, the Reserve is a straightforward answer.

Available in multiple tip openings to suit different players and setups. A serious mouthpiece at a price that makes sense for advancing students and working professionals alike.
