Description
Denson Paul Pollard is Professor of Music in trombone at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and bass/tenor trombonist/bass trumpet player with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. A passionate champion of the bass trombone as a solo instrument, Pollard has performed as a soloist in 26 countries and participated in multiple Grammy-winning recordings as a member of the Met Opera Orchestra. When he says a mouthpiece works in both the loudest Ring Cycle settings and the most delicate of chamber music, that's not a marketing claim — it's a description of his actual working life.
The Basso Profundo is the largest and most open model in the Pollard signature line, extending the Gravitas design for players who need maximum depth and resonance without sacrificing approachability. Long Island Brass Co.'s most open backbore is paired with higher compression cups to keep the design free-flowing and responsive. The result is a mouthpiece that delivers the full weight and resonance that contrabass trombone and the most demanding orchestral bass trombone settings require, while remaining musical and controllable across the full dynamic range.
