Description
Scott Laskey spent his career figuring out what makes a mouthpiece feel right. He started in the late 1970s studying and reworking some of the most influential mouthpieces of the era, and by 1985 he had built a reputation that spread through orchestras, jazz bands, and studios worldwide. The Classic Series is the direct result of that work — his rim design, his blank, his backbore geometry, now made with modern CNC precision.
The rim is the first thing you notice. It's comfortable without being soft, giving you a clear, consistent landing spot every time you bring the horn up. That kind of rim builds confidence. You stop thinking about placement and start thinking about music.
The medium-weight blank is a careful choice. Heavy enough to hold your tone together when you dig in, but not so heavy that the mouthpiece starts to feel sluggish or remote. There's a liveliness to it — a sense that the mouthpiece is working with you. The complex backbore adds to that feeling, keeping the airflow open and even from the bottom of the horn all the way to the top.
Cup options cover a real range of playing situations. The M cup sits close to the feel of a 6½AL — a reliable all-around choice for players who move between styles and settings. The MD goes deeper, closer to a 5G in feel, with a strong low end and a balance that works across genres. The D cup is for players who want real depth and a rich, textured tone — at home in an orchestra chair or anywhere you need weight in your sound.
Whether you play tenor or bass trombone, small bore or large, the Classic Series gives you a mouthpiece you can trust every time you pick it up. Available in silver or gold plating.
