Description
Rudy Weidoeft was the biggest saxophone star of the 1920s. He made over 300 recordings for multiple record companies and did more than almost anyone else to popularize the saxophone as an instrument in the US and abroad. He organized the first concert in America devoted entirely to classical saxophone, broadcast to a million people on radio. When Frank Holton built a signature model in his name, it was a serious endorsement — and the horn reflected that.
The Holton Rudy Weidoeft Artist Model is a rare piece of American saxophone history. These horns were built to a premium standard, with extra keywork that set them apart from standard production instruments of the era. They have a dedicated following among vintage saxophone collectors and players who seek them out specifically for the quality of build and the character of sound.
This one has been fully restored. The keys are mechanically fit with smooth, even action, and all pads and key materials are new. The gold plating is striking — warm and rich in both appearance and tone. It plays beautifully and is ready to use.
If you collect vintage American saxophones or simply want a horn with real history and a full restoration behind it, pieces like this don't come up often. No case included.
