Description
The Forestone GX alto saxophone is the mid-tier model in Forestone's Japanese-built lineup, designed around a warm, centered tone with a responsive feel across the full range of the horn. This unit comes in Vintage Cognac, an unlacquered finish with an aged copper look that sits between the brightness of gold lacquer and the rawness of a bare metal horn, visually and sonically.
The GX is built with a hybrid post construction and undergoes cryogenic FVCT treatment on the neck, a process that stabilizes the molecular structure of the metal at extreme cold, aimed at improving projection and responsiveness. On alto, the Vintage Cognac finish produces a big, warm core sound that stays flexible and easy to shape across dynamic levels, from soft, round ballad tone to a fuller, more open sound when pushed. It's a versatile horn that works across jazz, funk, and contemporary playing styles without locking a player into one specific tonal corner.
Build details include a detachable, hand-engraved bell, Pisoni pads with metal resonators, blue steel springs, and an adjustable metal thumb hook. Full rib construction runs across both the top and bottom stack. Key touches are genuine mother of pearl. The horn is built with a high F# key and an ergonomic key layout that keeps the action comfortable over long playing sessions.
This unit is new and unused. It will go through our standard play-test and adjustment process before it ships, the same as every horn that leaves our shop.
A good fit for a player stepping up to a serious professional horn who wants a warm, controlled alto tone and a finish that stands out from the standard lacquer field.
