Description
The baritone saxophone in a jazz setting needs to do two things well: sound full and rich in the low end, and have enough edge to sit in the mix rather than disappear under everything else. The Jazz Baritone was designed around exactly that balance.
The rollover shark gill baffle and medium small bullet style chamber give the tone a focused core with the right amount of edge for modern jazz playing — present and defined without going bright or aggressive. It's warm and full where the baritone should be warm and full, with a character that draws comparisons to the Berg Larsen HR and sits in similar territory to the Brahma and Vandoren V16. This is a mouthpiece with real pedigree in its DNA.
We'll be direct: this is one of our favourites at Wind Instrument Proshop. It plays beautifully across the full range of the horn and has an ease to it that makes the baritone feel less demanding than it sometimes can.
Two tip openings cover different playing preferences. Size 5 (0.080" / 2.03mm) for more resistance and control — a natural fit for section playing and longer gigs. Size 8 (0.110" / 2.79mm) opens up for players who want more room and a bigger personal sound.
Compatible with standard hard rubber tenor saxophone ligatures. No ligature included.
